From
1975 to 1995 I worked for the Royal Hong Kong Police in the field of
archival records management. My weekends and holidays were spent in the
Hong Kong Colonial Cemetery recording the memorial inscriptions and
burial records.
On returning home I was posted to the Metropolitan Police Archives Department where I acquired an in depth knowledge of the Met's historical service records which are held at The National Archives and elsewhere.
Since retirement I have continued the Far East research by sourcing Hong Kong records
throughout the UK. Lives of the British expatriates who lived in Hong Kong in
the 19th. & early 20th. centuries are slowly being pieced
together. The stories are presented as talks to Archives and local family history societies.
My details can be found on the Directory of Speakers maintained by the Federation of Family History Societies (search for Christine THOMAS)
If Hong Kong is the part of the world where your family history has led then please contact me - I
would be happy to advise on what may or may not be possible although I am no longer able to accept paid commissions.
PLEASE NOTE THAT PROBATE SEARCHES AND/OR INHERITENCE RESEARCH DOES NOT FORM PART OF MY SERVICE and I HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH A COMPANY NAMED FAMILY TREE LOCATOR LLP - or any other company or researcher.
